Haywood County is preparing to launch Haywood Innovative, an accelerated middle school program opening August 2026.

 

This forward-thinking effort unites the Haywood County school district, Haywood Community College, and county leaders to enrich learning in Waynesville and nearby communities.

 

Inspired by Haywood Early College, Haywood Innovative will let middle schoolers take high school and college-level courses in a dynamic new setting.

 

Lori Fox, renowned as North Carolina’s 2021 Principal of the Year, will head the school and champion its mission to nurture creative, globally minded students.

 

The Dogwood Building at Haywood Community College is being remodeled for the program, which plans to enroll up to 120 students, supported by dedicated staff.

 

Haywood Innovative aligns with state and national education goals, aiming to serve as a standout model in North Carolina and beyond.
