After nearly two months of renovations, the Haywood County Public Library branch in Waynesville is officially reopening to the public.
The temporary closure allowed crews to complete significant infrastructure upgrades designed to improve comfort, safety, and long-term functionality. Among the major improvements were the installation of a brand-new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, updated interior flooring and lighting, and a full roof replacement.
County officials say these upgrades were necessary to ensure the library continues serving residents for years to come. The library has long been considered a central hub for learning, connection, and community growth in Haywood County.
During the renovation period, patrons were still able to access materials through the library’s reservation and book pick-up program, allowing services to continue even while the building itself was closed.
With renovations now complete, the Waynesville branch has resumed normal operations and regular hours. Visitors can once again browse the stacks, use public computers, attend programs, and enjoy one of Haywood County’s most valued community spaces.
For families, students, and lifelong readers alike, the refreshed facility marks an exciting new chapter for one of our county’s most important public resources.
